Jeffrey Fay, MA, LCMHC-S, LCAS
Substance Use & Addiction Counselor in NC and PA
With over 20 years of experience in counseling and substance use prevention, Jeffrey Fay provides compassionate, evidence-based therapy for individuals navigating concerns related to alcohol, drugs, and other addictive behaviors. He works with adults, college students, and young professionals throughout  North Carolina and Pennsylvania via telehealth.
Who Jeffrey Works With
Jeffrey specializes in supporting:
  • Individuals questioning their relationship with alcohol or substances
  • College students navigating campus culture and peer pressure
  • Adults managing stress-related drinking or substance use
  • Clients in early recovery
  • Family members impacted by a loved one’s substance use
  • Individuals seeking harm-reduction or abstinence-based approaches
Whether someone is unsure if their use is “a problem” or actively seeking recovery support, Jeffrey meets clients where they are — without judgment or stigma.
His Approach to Therapy
Jeffrey believes meaningful change begins with connection and honest conversation. His style is collaborative, grounded, and respectful. He integrates evidence-based approaches, motivational interviewing, and relapse-prevention strategies while helping clients explore the underlying stress, trauma, or life transitions that may contribute to substance use.
Rather than focusing solely on stopping behaviors, Jeffrey helps clients build resilience, increase self-awareness, and develop practical coping skills that support long-term well-being.
Experience & Background

Jeffrey earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from San Diego State University and his Master’s degree in Clinical Counseling Psychology from La Salle University in Philadelphia. His professional background includes extensive work at major universities — including NC State University, Temple University, and the University of San Diego — where he focused on substance use prevention, early intervention, and clinical support for students and young adults.
He is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor (LCMHC-S) and Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS) in North Carolina and a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Pennsylvania.
What to Expect
Clients working with Jeffrey can expect:
  • A non-judgmental, supportive environment
  • Clear, practical tools for managing urges and triggers
  • Collaborative goal-setting
  • Respect for individual values and readiness for change
  • Honest conversations that empower informed decisions
Therapy is not about shame — it’s about growth, insight, and building a life that feels sustainable and fulfilling.
